For example, caffeine removes the inhibitions from your central nervous system. This means that you can perform better and push harder at a much higher intensity.

The fat burners found in some pre-workouts increase fat oxidation in your body. This, in turn, increases endurance. Ingredients such as beta-alanine and L-carnitine have been shown to improve the ability of your muscles to maintain HIIT efforts.

Some of the other ingredients in pre-workouts, such as BCAAs, don’t necessarily have a direct impact on your performance, but they do prevent you from being as sore as you normally would following a workout.
