Via Peters

The Holy month of Ramzan is here and the preparation among the Muslim community is on an all-time high. Also referred to as Ramadan, it is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims across the globe as month of fasting, prayer and self-reflection. During the month of Ramzan, people refrain from eating food and water throughout the day and break their fast with evening prayer and Iftaari. It is said that the ritual of fasting helps people connect and empathise with the less-fortunate and reinstate faith in the blessings of Allah. This year, Ramzan starts today (from April 2, 2022).

A typical day during Ramadan starts at the crack of dawn with the meal called ‘Sehri’ or ‘Suhoor’. Quintessentially, it is packed with mouth-watering dishes that must be eaten before the sunrise to fill you up and help you keep hydrated for the rest of the day. This is why health experts suggest including healthy and nutrient-rich foods during Sehri to keep going for the entire day. According to consultant nutritionist Rupali Datta, “For Sehri, one should include enough fluid, carb and fibre in their diet. These in result will help you fast without food and water for about 12 hours in a day.”

Considering this, we bring you some super easy, healthy and nutrient-rich recipes that can be prepared for Sehri. Let’s take a look.
